OH MY OH MY OH MY!!!!! HORST KIECHLE – PAPER TORSO

ImageSo we can download this and make it ourselves???? Wow what a lot of work!! Here’s what Horst Kiechle says about his latest project –

“The paper torso project began in 2011 when I took up a suggestion by Ms. Joanne Nakora from the International School Nadi in the Fiji Islands to design and build a torso with removable organs. 3 months later I had completed a first version and uploaded some images to my Flickr account. In January 2012 My Modern Met blogged about it which led to many requests to make the templates available.
Improving certain parts of the design, fitting the patterns to A4 paper and working out how to best write the instructions took about 4 times as long as building the first version.
The templates and instructions are available by clicking on the banners below. In the spirit in which this project was started they are available for free. If you manage to complete some of the organs and/or the torso I would appreciate it if you could send me an email or some images of it.

ImageThis is incredible and relates to the paper wing by the t-shirt company that I blogged about last year!

Very cool indeed… When this current project finishes, I may well be tempted to try this one!

Inspiration comes from Studio Roosegaarde – LOTUS

They’ve only gone and done it again… Beautiful cool simple AND it interacts with you! I love what Studio Roosegaarde do, and this is no exception! Nice!

“LOTUS 7.0 is a living wall composed of smart foils that fold open in response to human behavior. Walking by LOTUS, hundreds of aluminum foils unfold themselves in an organic way; generating transparent voids between private and public.
Via LOTUS, physical walls are made immaterial, giving way to a poetic morphing of space and people.
Specifications:
2010-2011. Curved wall of 4 x 2 meters with hundreds of smart foils, lamps, sensors, software and other media.
Client:
Self-commissioned by Studio Roosegaarde.
LOTUS DOME is a living dome made out of hundreds of smart flowers which fold open in response to human behavior. Deep inside the 17th-century Sainte Marie Madeleine Church in Lille LOTUS DOME creates an interactive play of light and shadow.
As a futuristic vision on the Renaissance LOTUS DOME merges elements of architecture and nature into an interactive environment.
Client:
Commissioned by the City of Lille for Lille3000 FANTASTIC exhibition curated by Caroline David.”

Printed movable surfaces… That’s cool!

It’s been a while… sorry about that, life has been spent in hotels, on friends sofas and living out of a suitcase, but I’m back and I’m going to show you what I’ve seen and what I’m doing…

These are some of the cool things that I saw at the 3D Print Show in London Last month (last month already!!! ARRGHHHHH).. The movable surfaces were of GREAT interest! (links to follow!)
